WOMEN'S STUDIES RESEARCH CENTER

Announcing TARGET
A new research circle on gender equity and international policy

What is gender expertise?  Who has it and how can we tell?  What should gender expertise on policy questions look like?  If you are interested in the answers to these and other questions, or think you might have some of the answers or even additional questions, this research circle is for you!

We cordially invite all interested campus members to participate in the new International Institute Research Circle, titled "Transnational Applied Research in Gender Equity Training" (TARGET).

This new research circle focuses on how organizations and governments "mainstream" gender equity concerns into international policy, particularly on the transformation of feminist knowledge into “gender expertise” in various policy arenas. This project is designed to (1) deepen feminist policy-making expertise in Madison, (2) build connections between Madison gender scholars and those considered “gender experts” in policy institutions, and (3) advance UW as a globally recognized center for feminist policy knowledge.

You can visit the TARGET website here.

Contact: Myra Marx Ferree (mferree@ssc.wisc.edu), Christina Ewig (cewig@wisc.edu), Sandy Sulzer (ssulzer@ssc.wisc.edu).

TARGET is a collaborative project of the Women’s Studies Programs at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Northeastern University in the US and the QUING network of the European Union.  In the US, it is supported by funds from UW’s International Institute and Global Studies Program, the Provost and Dean of Arts and Sciences at Northeastern University, and the Fund for the Improvement of Secondary Education.
