Graduate Student Funding Opportunities
GWS Teaching AssistantshipsThe Department of Gender and Women’s Studies employs teaching assistants for its large lecture courses. This opportunity offers both classroom experience and background in the interdisciplinary aspects of the field of gender and women’s studies. Graduate students enrolled at UW-Madison may apply for these positions. Position openings are posted on the department home page. Gender and Women's Studies MA students are encouraged to apply and are given priority provided an appropriate fit. In order to allow greater opportunities to more students to TA for Gender and Women's Studies, under usual circumstances, no student will be hired to TA for the Department for more than a total of four semesters.
GWS GradersThe Department of Gender and Women's Studies employs graders for some of its medium-size lecture courses. Graders are generally hired early in the semester. In hiring graders, priority is given to Gender and Women's Studies MA students if an appropriate person can be found.
GWS LectureshipsThe Department of Gender and Women's Studies occasionally employs short-term lecturers to teach courses that fill important gaps in our curriculum. This opportunity provides the experience of designing and teaching a course independently. Graduate students enrolled at UW-Madison may apply for these positions. Position openings are posted on the department home page. Generally, lecturers hold a PhD or are PhD candidates.

Graduate Student Research AwardsThe Department of Gender and Women's Studies also holds a semi-annual competition for graduate student research funds (maximum award of $250) to which Gender and Women's Studies MA students may apply. The Center for Research on Gender and Women offers the following competitive awards for graduate student research, to which PhD students may apply:
